First, by all means, if you have not yet updated your mobile Apple devices to iOS 7.0.6 and your Mac computers to OSX 10.9.2, please do so immediately. These are serious vulnerability issues that Apple users face and the user-community is the least prepared of all for the realities of cyber-risk today. I've been using Macs for almost 15 years, and I am familiar with the smug glow Apple-users get when reading about viruses, spyware, information hijacking and the assortment of nasty hazards so prevalent in cyber-space today. It's debatable whether Apple products have truly been safer than Windows-based machines, but there is no argument that the Apple user-base today may be the most vulnerable of all in the world of personal computing.

"... this is a serious flaw that exposed significant vulnerability across the Apple eco-system, and it is without a question, an entirely new era for all users of Apple products."

This forum is written for practical users of technology. Our members enjoy the leverage technology and the internet give them in virtually everything they care to do. So, I'll skip the technical aspect of the mess that Apple finds themselves in and instead, focus on what you need to know and do about it. Before that, lets be clear; this is a serious flaw that exposed significant vulnerability across the Apple eco-system, and it is without a question, an entirely new era for all users of Apple products.

The immediate fix is easy, and the sustainable fix isn't that difficult. As mentioned at the beginning, check your OS version numbers and be sure they are the most current; Apple devices to iOS 7.0.6 and your Mac computers to OSX 10.9.2 Do this simply by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of your Mac and then click Software Update. On your iOS, it's in Settings, and then General. Next, go to ClamXav website and download the free antivirus software designed for the Mac OSX. Now, for the moment at least, you have locked the door and sprayed for bugs, and have some time to think about positioning your Apple operating environment for the realities of risk management in the digital age.
