U.S. domiciled email services have mutated over the last 20 years to something far from their original intent. Evidently our personal information is so valuable to them and yet so worthless to us, that they give their services away for "free" and become billionaires before they are 25 years old. Oh yeah, and the government can spy on us, put us under surveillance, hang our future on the judgment of an algorithm, and never need a subpeona in the process.

The Swiss constitution, on the other hand, extends extraordinary rights of privacy to individuals and the value is deeply engrained in their culture and society. There is no warrantless activity by the government in Switzerland. While in the U.S. it is a criminal act to report a warrantless offense by the NSA, in Switzerland it is a criminal act NOT to report the activity, even for a warranted action. When it comes to personal security, privacy, and control of your own identity, Switzerland is essentially the antithesis of the U.S.

Switzerland is a country that places a high value on the individual's right to privacy. These values are deeply imbedded in the country's constitution and culture. For example, in 2012 there were just 20 cases of internet wire-tapping in all of Switzerland and just 26 for retroactive communication records (metadata).

This link is a detailed overview of the records - https://www.li.admin.ch/en/index.html

Back to the US, on any given day the NSA's Special Source Operations branch will collect 500,000-1,000,000  individual email addresses from the major providers like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and others.

The information that is being aggregated about you and your life is at the stage where it absolutely is surveillance. A simple inquiry by an ambitious federal employee can spin out of control, take on a shape never originally intended and completely upend and disrupt your life for a very long time to come. Witness the Op-Ed piece from the Wall St Journal, #howthegovernmentspiedonme, where a routine email check led to the resignation of the Director of the CIA.

The NSA is not alone in this activity. Corporations, criminals and creeps are in the same business and everyone is getting rich off of our stuff while putting our identification, security and privacy at stake.

If you choose to operate your online life while in control of your identity, your digital assets and personal security, then the answer is clear. You want to establish your own internet domain in Switzerland, and own and operate your own Swiss email accounts, for you, your family, and your business. And, it's astonishingly inexpensive to do so.

Our UltraSecure email accounts and SecureSafe data vaults are stored in our data centers in Switzerland and cannot be accessed by spy programs even those as powerful as PRISM. There is also no corporate spying, because we show no advertisements. With our services, you can enjoy the convenience of the Cloud without compromising freedom and openness.
