First, before we get to reporting an exciting development in SD-WAN security technology, this:
In August, I sat with Carrie Kerskie, the Privacy Mentor, for her podcast episode about privatizing email. Carrie is our go-to professional for clients seeking to manage their ID to avoid theft and respond if there is an incident.
We created a strategic partnership with Carrie earlier this year because she knows more about ID management and theft avoidance than anyone we know.
"Every two seconds another American is affected by identity theft." Carrie Kerskie
I recommend all TDS clients speak with Carrie because you don't know what you don't know, and I assure you, the credit agencies and third-party data aggregators are not your friends.
If you want to talk with Carrie about what she does, how she does it, and why it might make sense to hire her, reply to this email or contact us here.
✓ The podcast I did with Carrie is about the benefits of private email. Keep reading for a little more on the topic and a link to the podcast and transcript.
Why do I need a private email account?
Why do you need a private email? Primarily, because it’s private and secure. Research shows that nine out of every ten viruses that infect a computer reach it through an email attachment.
Also, of an increasingly critical nature, is the notion of digital autonomy from Big Tech and taking ownership of your personal information.
✓ Free email is the number one vector for cybercrimes, and sophisticated email scams can be deceptively convincing.
Here's the podcast I did with Carrie:
Carrie Kerskie, the Privacy Mentor podcast with Brad Deflin, Aug. 24th, 2022
In 2013 I first recognized cybercrime as a growth industry for the future. Two new paradigms were emerging, and they've been under my focus since.
NEW DIGITAL RISKS - The new face of (digital) risk requires new tools and life skills for all, from the largest enterprises, governments, and militaries, to the smallest businesses, groups, and families.
NEW CYBER SOLUTIONS - Flourishing innovation from an IT security industry that is financially and intellectually resourced to meet the latest threats. With software-centric design, remote data centers, smart systems, and as-a-service business models, anyone can protect with enterprise-grade tools.
At TDS, keeping an eye on the solutions is as important as knowing the risks. Our job includes bringing advances in IT security to all aspects of life, including personal email, devices, and networks.
✓ As a "curated platform," TDS does the due diligence for you and provides all the help and service you will ever need.
The Power of SD-WAN
One of the best examples of our curated platform is bringing SD-WAN network technology to private clients in 2017.
The effect of SD-WAN is like "An IT department in the basement" in the form of an "appliance" about the size of a paperback book. Managed Network Security has become our most popular service since 2017, with clients enjoying its comprehensive protection with simplicity and an "always on" status.
An SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) security system provides a "private internet" - an internet defined by software to create a secure and safe experience for the users, their devices, and their networks.
✓ Consistent with our mission to curate and provide the best protection available, I'm excited to report a next-gen version of SD-WAN security has arrived. I've been testing it since July, and we will make it available to you shortly.
Next-gen Managed Network Security Service
The new SD-WAN technology and network security generation now include an "agent." An agent is a bit of software with a specific function. In this case, the agent is for mobile computers, like Windows laptops and Apple MacBooks. The agent connects the device to the "private internet" SD-WAN security technology provides.
So, now you can be entirely private and protected on the internet, anywhere in the U.S., not just at home or in the office (where the appliance resides.)
✓ We have more information forthcoming on the new SD-WAN technology and its protection for TDS clients. So, stay tuned, stay in touch, and contact Diane or me for more.
